ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — To ‘Say Twin’ or not to ‘Say Twin.’
That is the question that the South Fulton Police Department Facebook account is seemingly grappling with.
The department recently posted on Facebook asking whether the term “Say Twin” should be a continued part of its social media jargon.
South Fulton police have made multiple posts on Facebook for recruiting and safety in a relatable and fun way by beginning each post with the phrase.
But apparently, not everyone in the city is amused.
“The South Fulton Police Department has recently received a comment regarding the use of the phrase ‘Say Twin’ in our social media messaging,” South Fulton Police Department post states. “The individual suggested that this style of communication may be overly informal for a community that includes many accomplished professionals such as doctors, attorneys, engineers, educators, and business leaders.”
The post asked people to comment on whether “Say Twin” is out … or in.
“‘Hey twin!’ It’s a term of endearment that’s here that has just taken off, especially in Atlanta,” South Fulton Mayor Carmalitha Gumbs said. “It’s bringing light to real issues that we’re facing in our community. We’re meeting residents where they are, so they can actually get it.”
After getting thousands of comments and likes and a range of responses, the South Fulton PD account stood its ground, posting that, “FYI, we weren’t retiring ‘Say Twin’ either way. Just making sure somebody got the attention they asked for.”
